By the end you'll have a folder on your computer that your AI assistant reads, a short list of new papers waiting for you every morning, and a place where everything you keep gets filed and linked for you. About 90 minutes in total, once.
What you need
An AI assistant. Any of the ones below works; some do more of the work on their own. No assistant that reads files? See doing it manually at the bottom.
What product are you using?
Works fully
It runs on a schedule and the digest arrives on its own. In Claude, use Cowork in the desktop app. In ChatGPT, do everything inside a Project and upload your context files to it.
Mostly on its own
Free for clinicians. Inside a Project, the digest runs on a schedule. When you keep a paper, it gives you the file: save it in your kept folder and add it to the Project so later runs can see it.
Attach your context files to the chat, run it yourself each morning, and save what it gives you. See doing it manually below.
Not yet tested
Copilot Cowork, Perplexity, and others. Try it: the setup prompt checks what your assistant can do before it builds anything.
Stuck? Ask the agent clearly what to do next. You can even take a screenshot of what you see and give it to the agent. It will help you get unstuck.
1
Download your folder
5 minutes
Download the folder below.
Double-click the download to unzip it. You'll get a folder called agent-context-folder.
Move it somewhere your assistant can read. Your Documents folder is fine. If your assistant only reads cloud files, put it in OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox. No sync app? Open the drive in your browser and use Upload → Folder.
Everything after this reads these files first. That's what turns generic answers into answers about your work.
Done when: your context folder has about ten short files in it.
3
Set up your daily digest
About 20 minutes
Copy the setup prompt (or download it).
Open a new chat in your assistant (in ChatGPT, inside a Project) and paste it in. If your assistant can't see your folder, attach your context files first. Most assistants take files, not folders, so select all the files inside context.
Answer its questions. It asks what topics to search and the rules only someone in your field would know.
It finds today's real papers and shows you its picks. Tell it what's wrong until the list looks like yours.
It sets itself up to run every weekday morning. If your assistant can't schedule, it gives you one line to paste each morning instead.
Checking whether a connection is real is your job, not the AI's.
Done when: your connections folder has its first page.
Doing it manually
Same system, a little slower. Paste the prompt into a chat and attach your context files. When you keep something, ask for "the kept file as text" and save it into your kept folder yourself.
Daily digest prompt, fill-in-the-blanks
What the setup prompt in step 3 writes for you, as a blank form you fill in yourself.
